Corps of Engineers Mandates Consideration of Sea Level Rise

united_states_army_corps_of_engineers_logo.svgIn a new public document, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (COE) has announced that it will immediately require all COE Civil Works projects in coastal and estuarine areas to consider sea level rise in all phases of its projects. The short document continues with specific explanations of which rates of sea level rise must be used (a low, medium, and high rate).

Is your community still caught in the debacle of choosing which rate of sea level rise to use in its regulations or guidelines? Perhaps this technique, which already has the authority of the COE behind it, is worth consideration. You can download a PDF of the announcement here.
