We all know that plants can help slow erosion and decrease storm damage while making your property look great. Unfortunately, finding plants that can survive the harsh coastal climate can be tricky — figuring out where and how to plant them and how to keep them alive can be even trickier.
Luckily, the Massachusetts Office of Coastal Zone Management has launched a new Coastal Landscaping website providing step-by-step instructions on landscaping a bank, beach, or dune; tips for planting, installation, and maintenance; plant lists and photos; sample landscape plans; information on permitting; suggestions on where to purchase native plants; and links to additional information.
Highly recommended, especially for all everybody in the Northeast. We’re in the process of adding more links from the StormSmart Coasts sites to this great resource.
