Massachusetts Homeowner’s Handbook

Massachusetts Homeowner's HandbookThe Massachusetts Homeowner’s Handbook was created to help people prepare for natural hazards. Although it is never possible to eliminate all risk from a natural hazard, homeowners can take action and implement many small and cost-effective steps that could significantly lower risk and exposure.

It has six parts:

  1. Introduction
  2. Natural Hazards: An Overview for Homeowners
  3. Protecting Yourself and Your Family
  4. Protecting Your Property
  5. Protecting Your Property with Insurance
  6. Climate Change and Potential Impacts on Natural Hazards

The handbook was developed as a cooperative project among the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency, Massachusetts Office of Coastal Zone Management, Federal Emergency Management Agency, Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation, Barnstable County, and the two Massachusetts Sea Grant programs, MIT Sea Grant and Woods Hole Sea Grant.
